Description

During the American Occupation of Japan from 1945-1952, 50% of all exported goods were made to feature a mark that said "Made in Occupied Japan" or "OJ". This particular fine china plate features this mark, indicating its age between 71-78 years old and being from Japan during the occupation. This plate features a hand-painted lotus flower motif with shades of blue and orange over white porcelain, with gold rimmed accents. The reverse of the plate feaures a maker's mark that reads: "IRONSTONE WARE MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN 6033." There is also an "X" marking on the reverse side of the plate. The plate measures approximately 6" in diameter, and is in good condition.
