Description

This is a lot of Ford-themed race cars from both Matchbox and Hot Wheels. The first car in this lot is the Matchbox Series No. 41 Ford GT, with white enamel paint, a blue stripe sticker with the number 6 printed on it, and a red interior. This model depicts the original Ford GT Mk1, which was the predecessor to the Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 MkIIs driven by Bruce McLaren, AJ Foyt, and Ken Miles in 1966. The second car in this lot is the Hot Wheels Ford J-Car, finished in white enamel paint with some of it's originals stickers dtill intact, "Redline" wheels, blue tinted windshield, and a black interior. The Ford J-Car was designed as the replacement for the Ford GT40 MkII under the new "Appendix-J" rules for Le Mans, but was later redesigned after the car lost control at high speed and crashed in late 1966, killing Ken Miles. The redesigned car later became the Ford GT40 MkIV, which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1967. The final car in this lot is the Matchox Series No.45 "Ford Group 6". This car depicts the Ford P68/F3L race car of 1968, which was designed to race in the new Group 6 Race Car Class. After the 1967 race season, the FIA introduced a new series of rules for sports car and prototype racing. The new "Group 6 Prototype" class limited engine capacity to 3 Liters, meaning that the Ford GT40 MkIV could no longer run. Ford designede the P68/F3L based on the 3-Liter rule, and utilized the Ford/Cosworth DFV 3.0L V8 engine. Sadly, the car was never saw much success, and last raced in 1968. Each car in this collection is in fair condition, with scratches and oxidation.
