Vintage 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom "SECOND" in Sunburst

  Lot # 2A

Payment Options Seller Accepts Credit Cards

This lot features a vintage 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom in the "Sunburst" finish. This guitar is serial number 7346959, which indicates that it was manufactured on December 12th, 1979 at Gibson's Nashville, Tennessee plant. This plant is currently responsible for manufacturing all of Gibson's electric guitars, and some acoustics. This guitar also features a "SECOND" stamp, which indicates that the guitar features some sort of defect in its finish. Guitars stamped with "SECOND" were often sold directly to retailers at a discount, although it is often difficult to find the defect. In this case, the plaque at the tailpiece of the guitar isn't etched with "Les Paul Custom". This guitar features a mahogany body with a maple neck and ebony fretboard. The fretboard is decorated with rectangular Mother of Pearl inlays, and the tailpiece also features a decorative diamond shaped arrangement of Mother of Pearl inlays. The hardware on this guitar is also gold plated, with the plating on the bridge cover being worn away. There is some slight damage to the finish of this guitar, primarily on the back of the body where there is "Belt Buckle Rash" and some dents present. The guitar comes with a Gibson hard shell case with red plush interior, various cleaning supplies, 8 different guitar picks, a blue nylon guitar strap, two original gold plated pickups, and a "Singspiration Symphony" cassette. This guitar measures approximately 39" x 13" x 3", and is in fair condition.
