Description

This lot features a vintage 1980 Gibson ES-175D with the iconic "Sunburst" finish. This guitar is serial number 81720015, which indicates that this guitar was built in the Kalamazoo, Michigan plant on June 20th 1980. The Kalamazoo plant was the original Gibson plant, first becoming active in 1917 and closing its doors in 1984 after production was moved to Nashville, Tennessee. The ES-175D is a fully hollow-body electric jazz guitar with "Florentine" cutouts, and the "D" in the model name denotes that the guitar features 2 pickups. Although the ES-175 is noted as a jazz guitar, it has also been embraced by rock players like Yes' Steve Howe who has a signature model. This particular guitar features a maple body with a rosewood fretboard, with parallelogram-shaped Mother of Pearl Inlays. The tailpiece features an inlaid Gibson logo and decoration in Mother of Pearl as well. This guitar comes with an authentic Gibson hard shell case with plush red interior, and comes with several various cleaning supplies, and a nickel-plated guitar slide. The guitar measures approximately 42" x 16" x 4.5", and is in excellent condition. Examples of this guitar can sell upwards of $4000.
