Description

This lot features a rare 1986/1987 Nouveau by Gibson NV-12 12-String acoustic guitar. According to some sources, only 139 of these guitars were made by Gibson before production was halted due to the cost of manufacturing. These guitars were hand built in Japan between 1986 and 1987, and then sent over to Gibson's Nashville, Tennessee plant for final assembly. These guitars could only be custom ordered. As a result, Gibson reportedly lost revenue on every NV-12 ever sold. This guitar is serial number 7820855, and features a Mahogany back, Rosewood sides, Spruce top, Mahogany Neck, and an Ebony fretboard. The guitar also features a Rosewood bridge, Micarta saddle and nut, and Mother of Pearl inlays along the fretboard and tailpiece, with the "Nouveau" script being made of Mother of Pearl. This guitar comes with its original hard shell case with orange plush interior, extra strings, warranty card, a large number of guitar picks, and its original sales receipt. The guitar measures approximately 42" x 15.75" x 4", and is in good condition. One of the strings is missing from the guitar.
